Stuffed Peppers

I have taken a break from blogging for a while due to business being a hit and actually no real time to do blogging on the side. I now have a monthly news letter to keep everyone up to date. Thought it may be a bit more interesting to everyone. So that all my news is up to date and monthly. I will blog when I feel I have a moment or 2 to spare.

I'd like to share a very yummy stuffed pepper recipe that I made for tonight's dinner. It's a great way to use up garden fresh peppers especially when you don't know what to do with them

Here is the recipe and a few photos to follow!
I hope you enjoy and let me know your thoughts if you make it how did it turn out for you?

Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients:
•6 green bell peppers
•1 tablespoons butter
•1 tablespoon olive oil
•1/2 cup chopped onion
•1/2 cup chopped celery
•1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
•1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
•1 clove garlic, crushed
•1 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
•1/2 teaspoon dried leaf basil
•2 teaspoons salt, divided
•1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
•1 egg, lightly beaten
•1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
•1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef or chuck
•1 1/2 cups cooked long-grain rice
•shredded mild Cheddar cheese, about 1/2 to 3/4 cup, optional

Preparation:

Directions for stuffed peppers with ground beef and rice
Cut tops off peppers; remove seeds and membranes. Chop edible part of tops and set aside. Rinse peppers under cold water. Place peppers in a large pot; cover with salted water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain peppers and set aside.
Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat until hot. Sauté chopped green pepper (from tops), chopped onion, and chopped celery for about 5 minutes, or until vegetables are tender. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, crushed garlic, oregano, basil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine egg with remaining 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Gently stir to blend; add ground beef, cooked rice, and 1 cup of the tomato mixture. Mix well. Stuff peppers with meat mixture and place in a 3-quart baking dish. Pour remaining tomato mixture over the stuffed peppers. Bake at 350° for 55 to 65 minutes. If desired, top stuffed peppers with a little shredded Cheddar cheese just before peppers are done; bake until cheese is melted.

Recipe for stuffed peppers serves 6.

Need a easy stuffing recipe for your Easter Turkey? Baby Yums would like to share thing simple yet tasty recipe. *Recipe found on Cooking Nook"

Best Turkey Stuffing

3/4 cup butter
2 1/2 cups chopped onions
2 cups chopped celery
4 teaspoons dried sage
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried savory
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon marjoram
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
14 cups dried white bread, cubed

In a large frying pan, melt butter over a medium heat. Fry onions and celery together with the dried herbs, salt and pepper, stirring often, until vegetables are tender, about 10-15 minutes.

Transfer the mixture to a very large bowl. Add the bread cubes and mix well.

If you are making the stuffing ahead: Transfer the cooked vegetable mixture to a large bowl. Let cool and refrigerate in an airtight container for 24 hours. Mix with bread cubes before stuffing the bird.

Stuff the turkey at both ends with this mixture. (see our Roast Turkey Recipe for directions on stuffing the bird).

IMPORTANT: Stuff the turkey just before baking it. Do NOT stuff the bird ahead and let it sit, even in the refrigerator. It can become infected with bacteria and make you quite ill.

Enjoy and feel free to share your favorite stuffing!

Next week we will be posting our "Mother's Day give-a-way", another Kitchen Gadget & Spring time activities for the kids & a Family friendly recipe everyone can enjoy!

Feels great the Sun is shining where getting some April showers to bring them pretty May flowers. & Best of all it’s FRIDAY! Welcome to Baby Yums guest blog for Fabulous Fridays! Speaking of Friday it brings us into the weekend. Most families take the time during their hectic week to plan & play with the family during the weekend. What do you do with your family and how do you have fun? Last weekend my husband and I took the kids to the Sugar Bush. Felt great to get out and enjoy the weather, slowly seeing things “spring” back to live. Everyone coming out of hiding, kids laughing, sparkle in everyone’s eyes, birds singing and the Maple Syrup ohh so yummy! I asked a few people what their favourite activities with the family and here is a list that I got. Outdoors: walking/hiking/road trip/market/farm/ Indoors: crafts/reading/dancing/singing/playing/movie(s)/shopping/ Activities: events/concerts/eating out/visiting people/museums/ Here are my top personal 3 for each: Outdoors: We love drawing on the driveway with chalk with the boys so much fun Indoors: We love crafts get messy and enjoy the magical creativity Activities: We love to visit Family & Friends Please feel free to add a comment and let us know what you and your family enjoy doing add your own personal touch. We all have our favourites would love to hear what you and your family do to. A few blogs back I posted a recipe for a great spaghetti sauce that the whole family can enjoy. This week I’ve decided to focus on a recipe geared towards babies for beginners 6+ here is the recipe I’d like to share with you. *please make sure your baby has tired peas first & pears first before mixing them together just in case of any allergies.* Featured recipe this week is: Peas & Pears 2 cups frozen green peas 1 or 2 small ripe pears (peeled, cored and chopped) Directions: Place frozen peas pot of water cover and bring to a boil. Boil peas for 4 min Add chopped pear and cook another 2 minutes on HIGH. Puree to your babies choice for consistency Great for freezing Now that Spring is finally here what better way to enjoy the sunshine in your kitchen along side a great kitchen craft with your little ones with the window open and a little fun children’s music playing. I usually do fun crafts with my 2.5 year old when my 14month old is sleeping in the afternoon. This is when I take advantage of one on one time with my oldest who loves crafts! So my craft pick this week is: Animals out of plastic coloured Easter eggs. Here is the link that I found all the great info on how to make this craft followed by great photos: http://www.jollymom.com/2010/03/easter-craft-idea-turn-plastic-easter.html If you do this craft please feel free to post your photos on our fan page: http://www.facebook.com/babyyums I will post ours once it’s done! My commitment to Blogging!

Sorry followers & fans I thought I'd be more committed to my blog. However I've decided to take some time "TIME" being the key word and give you a little incite to "Baby Food" I've been doing a lot of reading on the good the bad and the ugly on Homemade Baby food vs Commercial Jarred Baby food.

I will post the links to the articles that has sparked some interest, shock and for me to pass along to family, friends & co-workers who you know may enjoy the read or should read and educate what commercial baby food really is. It's a shocker.

First off being a Mother of 2 boys I've never feed my children jarred food. Even when DH and I took a road trip to PEI we drove for 2 days one night in a hotel room and I still feed my 10 month old on the road "Homemade baby food" yes call me crazy but I'd be crazy not to do so. It's just a habit like anything else that is easy and accessible. That's why I'm all about making your Baby Yums for you because your baby deserves the best!

I'll quote some things that I've read and link the website so you can take a look yourself. Let me know your feed back re: the articles that where linked. If you feed your baby jarred food what would it take to feed your baby homemade fresh baby food?

So here are a few things that caught my eye

This is from "What's really in Jarred Baby Food" click on the title to go to the article

  • Additives
  • Sweets - sugars
  • Safety - chocking hazards
  • Toddler food - added salts & sugars

This is another great sight that I also posted on my Fan page today "Homemade baby food vs Commercial baby food" click on the title to go to the article

Let me know your thoughts! Happy reading

Friday Guest Blogger Spoiled Sugar

Spoiled Sugar Click here to see original BLOG

It’s Friday – and you’re here and I’m here – and I’m so excited we have another date together Thank again to Crystal from Baby Yums to invite us here to tell you all about our awesome products

Today – I want to tell you about our soother clips – because it’s a little bit of an inside joke. You remember last Friday when we “met” I told you everything is mommy made – well it may have been a white lie – a teeny tiny one. Because, YES everything is mommy made, except for our soothers They’re husband made Now Shhh I’m not supposed to tell, because he’s so embarrassed - but my husband makes these soother clips and I think he does a fantastic job with them Check them out:

The selection doesn’t end there – those are just the “his” and “her” models but we have a ton more for boy and for girls – check them out

Our soother clips are really well made. My husbands a little bit of a perfectionist – so he doesn’t over look anything – these clips are going to stay put – check out the back on them – they really grip

They’re really affordable too – at $10.00 a pop, you can stock up on a few different styles and colours to match outfits – it almost makes me wish my kidlets still had soothers because I just loved these things And the really functional great part of these is – you’re not picking your soother ( and a million particles of bacteria) up off the floor each time your little one decides to throw

I can’t wait for you to meet your little soother clip – I’m bet you’ll really get attached

Practical. Funky. Unique – It’s Spoiled Sugar

Monday dreams

Baby Yums is officially 1 month old today. I feel like this new adventure of me is growing each day bigger and better. Monday has been my "Market Monday's" for 4 whole weeks. With knocking on doors, joining groups to help with great networking tools, and just meeting a whole new community within itself. This whole month has been very inspirational to me. I feel the love from "Mom's who support Mom's" and local business who also welcome WAHM to promote within their own facilities.

I titled this blog Monday Dream because I know where I'd like to be in 5 years from now. I'm just having fun doing what I'm doing right now. I live each day by the quote "Love what you do and do what you Love" Wayne Dyer

Today was a great day. It started off with 2 orders that where delivered to customers. Followed by a meeting with Sippy Cup Cafe. Working on cross promotions so keep your eyes & ears open for Baby Yums promo with Sippy Cup Cafe. Then to come home and have a customer pick up their order was a great Monday all in all. I feel my little dream that I thought in one moment is slowly getting out there and love all the support from my Family, Friends, Co-Workers & Customers

So I blog off with a huge THANK-YOU EVERYONE WHO HAS EMBRACED BABY YUMS SO FAR!!

Marvellous Monday

A friend of mine put it right! Marvellous Monday! What has been so marvellous about it? The snow that was falling this morning because I did not have to go any place right away. I did venture out to Farm Boy to pick up a few groceries that I needed to start an order that I have to have done by Friday. Tonight I made some really tasting Peach, Pear Bananaram ohh so good, and I also made some beginner chili. I will be posting photos on Wednesday's post. (keep a lookout for them)

Marvellous because Baby Yums is in it's 4th week and I've thus far meet a great group of people who support me and keep rooting for me to keep trucking forward with my future dream. So far I've falling in love with doing the work. It's a job on top of my full time job of being a Mother and a Wife.

Marvellous Monday because I'm thankful for all my fans on fb and followers on twitter and my new customers and my existing customers.

I will see you all tomorrow on tweet tweet Tuesday! I hope your Monday was Marvellous!

Referral Perk Friday!

To my fellow Friends, Family, & C0-workers & future or current Referral's!

After going to a well informative meeting I've learned that there are going to be people who believe in you and what your dreams are and there are going to be people who will try and bring you down. A great saying that I heard was You can either walk beside me and support me or you can walk away because I don't want any negativity for my dream. As I'm a wahm I want to strive and make a living like everyone else.

Here is a little questionnaire for you to take a look at If you feel you have fellow family member, friends, Co-workers or future/current referrals yourself let me know. I have a great incentive for a personal referral. If the person(s) you referred to me place an order with Baby Yums I will give you a $5.00 gift card at Tim Hortons my way of saying Thank-you for your referral.

Here is a little questionnaire that you can answer copy-paste it into an e-mail and fwd to info@babyyums.com

1. Name 4 Relatives who you think would benefit from Baby Yums and would be interested in the service (could be aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, brothers,)

2. Name 4 people you do business with (bank, store, salon, ect.) who again would benefit from Baby Yums

3. Got 2 friends who are a young family or have a future bundle of joy on the way?

4. Co-workers? Spouse's Co-workers? who would be interested

Just a great way for my own Family, Friends, Co-workers & current/future referrals to support me in my endeavor to make Fresh Homemade baby food. I'd like to Thank-you for your support and referrals & walking beside me at this time.

Week 3 in the works...

Week 3 in the works. Connecting to other local businesses is key. Trying to know people that are already know for their product and have a great client/customer following. I'm hitting all the right notes meeting and communicating with great people & mom's alike. Week 3 and I feel like I've hit a wall with all these great contacts for marketing.

I write blogs of my success on starting my at home
Baby Yums so I can one day look at this and say to myself "remember the days" when I wanted my kitchen full of Baby Yums orders. This is the calm before the storm. It's a much "looking fwd" to storm of orders that I'm looking for and I can certainly feel it.

This weekend I'm a sponsor for
Kangaroo Fitness. Kangaroo Fitness is participating in the Ride for Heart Spin-a-thon on February 26, 2011 - a fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. I'm donating a $60.00 gift certificate to 1 lucky winner. I'm excited to share my Baby Yums food to one lucky winner. To me word of mouth is key. I want family members, friends, and co-workers to spread the word of Baby Yums and to tell them it's a healthy alternative to jarred food.

I'm signing off feel free to post my blog on your fb, twitter or e-mail it out :)

Cheers!

Family Day ~~ Oh Weekend how I love You~~

How was your "Family Day Weekend" ... I know Family day is not until tomorrow but I had a great weekend. Started off Friday with DH being home with the boys and once again receiving an order for Baby Yums food.

On Saturday DH & I hosted our second Sons' first birthday bash with aunts, uncles, cousins and great grandparents. Was nice to have everyone over and entertaining and a good way to actually celebrate his 1st birthday with his family. I did the birthday party with Kids during the week so it would not be to crazy town for everyone as I mad that mistake with my first son' 1st birthday.

Sunday I've been watching my tweets on twitter you can follow me
@babyyums and have some great recipes to share if your looking for something fast and yummy! I like to share recipes that I find "Kid" friendly as I have a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old

here is my Sunday recipe choice for this long weekend! Enjoy your Family day and let me know what you did and how you shared Family day weekend with your loved ones!

Tweet Tweet it's Tuesday!

Tweet Tuesday is follow Baby Yums on twitter day!

Hard to believe that almost a year ago today I had my youngest son who will be the big 1 as of tomorrow.

After having my first son I was a strong believer in making my own baby food for both of my children. I did cross a bridge and think to myself this is so much work, but truth be told I enjoy making baby food. I know my children are getting a good meal & a healthy choice rather then the store bought jarred food. Even in a crunch I bought jarred food once for my oldest and he would not eat it for the life of him. From that day forward I vowed I'd never buy a jar of baby food again and I never did.

1 year after my youngest son still enjoys his Baby Yums & my oldest son who is 2.5 years old enjoys his pre made baby Yums lunches.

Twitter followers please become a fan of Baby Yums on Facebook spread the word to Family, Friends & Co-Workers~ feel free to e-mail info@babyyums.com for any questions you may have!

Have a Tweet night ;)

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog "Baby Yums"
I'd like to take a moment and thank you all for your support, and interest in following me and being a customer. I'm looking forward to making your babies food. Baby Yums was thought up after being on maternity leave with my second son. I felt that as a mother of two it was important to feed them fresh homemade food.
I've decided to give my services to parents who don't have the time to make their own baby food but want a healthier choice and that's having your child eat fresh homemade baby food. Baby yums is a business out of my house. I prepare all the food myself and it's then packaged and labeled. I do prepare food "made to order" this way it's fresh.
If you know of anyone who is expecting, or has a child and maybe interested in my service please pass along my information.
I have a great website with loads of information it's http://www.babyyums.com I can also be e-mailed at info@babyyums.com I look forward to my future blogs and having fun with making baby food, meeting your little ones and I'd love to get photos posted of your little ones enjoying some Baby Yums.
